Total Surplus Value by Team

This treemap, created from my findings in the Surplus Value Analyzer, visualizes team surplus values across MLB. I exported the data from Excel into Tableau, using it to show how each team performed in terms of surplus value. Teams that struggled, such as the Angels, Rockies, and White Sox, ended 2024 with negative surplus values—a concerning metric.

Interestingly, several small-market teams excelled in surplus value, including the Orioles, Tigers, Brewers, Twins, Royals, Diamondbacks, and Athletics. These teams received far more production from their players than they paid for, highlighting strong financial efficiency.
